Out and about painting

I love the Denbighshire landscape, the colour varies so much, depending on the light.  These paintings are around Llyn Brenig, across the moorland above the town of Denbigh.  A truly beautiful location, with a lovely visitor centre, overlooking the lake.  A great place to walk, cycle, read a book, sketch paint, meet people and have something homemade to eat....I am becoming a frequent visitor.

New and diverse work.

I'm currently enjoying a mixture of style and subject matter in my painting and drawing. Working on a commission that captures idyllic days way-back-when, that is proving to be great fun. I'm also experimenting with acrylic inks and pens in landscape paintings and general sketching. Feeling inspired by the improved weather and summer almost here.

Dad

I am currently dealing with the most painful experience of my life so far, that of losing my dad. He died on the 28th April after a period of deteriorating health over a number of years. I will miss him dreadfully and life without him seems inconceivable just now.

Loss!

Such a sad time. After a two week stay in hospital my lovely dad passed away on 28th April. He will be deeply missed by all the family and was the very best dad I could ever have wished for, a fact shared by both my sisters. Sketching is the one activity that has helped control my sadness. I shared a lovely day with mum and elder sister, Barbara in the lovely Bodnant Gardens on a beautiful sunny day, took lots of photo's and have a few sketches to show.

Blossom's out in the garden.

So now it feels as if summer is almost here. Lovely blossom on trees.

warmest day so far this yr.

Though I had a number of commitments today, grabbed a short time outside in the sun with my dogs, my sketchbooks and paints, thought I would take on a lemon, as I have a few in the kitchen. Not too pleased with the results, because of the time restrictions, I probably rushed things. It's true though, the more you study a lemon, the less like a lemon it looks...fun in the sun all the same.
