'Keepers'...handmade to send to someone special, or frame.

I love coming up with one-offs and quirky pieces, like these 'I love', mini-boxes.

I love my beach hut.

So now I have a nice bright place to work outside through the summer, it's time to get back to work.

I'm really enjoying this project.

Dull and threatening rain!

Well, yesterday I made a start at painting the inside of my beach hut; and when  I woke to a miserable day, I decided to try to get that finished.  I haven't managed that, but almost...certainly, by the end of this week it will be done.
It will be a great place to chill and plan and write; a lovely summer retreat.  So, spiders will have to find some other summer residence,  we really don't mix.  Pictures to follow.

Beautiful day, garden-based

Well, I didn't waste a minute yesterday. By 8.30am I had organised the studio, ready to work, and cut all the grass outside, in beautiful sunshine.  Sat out with a coffee and came in again at 9 pm.  I've got lots of catching up inside to do today, but the forecast is rain for most of the day....so great decision.

if you have a little time...please!

I am asking a favour here; trying to get some idea of how my posts are being accepted and what the viewers think...I really don't mind any type of critique so long as it is honest...I really would appreciate your views on the products I am trying to sell, or interests you may have for future creations.  I appreciate the time it takes to respond and will be donating two pieces randomly into a draw of  those who offer comments.  I will make a random draw in two weeks time; 25th May 2015. The results of the draw will be made on this site and the winners will have the opportunity to select which piece they would like to receive.  The piece will be sent free of charge.

Princess Charlotte

First piece is nearly finished.  I should have it in the shop by tomorrow.

Have made a start on the Princess Charlotte pieces.

Have now made a start on this exciting project.  I'm totally enjoying making the first prototypes and now realise that, being so special, they need special treatment and detail.  I have the first four on the go...I will need to revisit pricing, as they will take longer than anticipated to complete, but they will be gorgeous.  I don't usually divulge any part-made pictures, but on this occasion I will. I am going to stick to my 50 maximum, and will be making a contribution to Centrepoint for each sold piece, which is a major aspect of making these celebratory pieces. I hope you will bear with me on the time scale...I will post up each piece, as completed.

inspired for summer.

It's great to get the chance to work outside in the summer, it's often difficult to find a breeze-less space, (especially when working with silk); so, this year I've created one.  It's lovely and sunny, but protected from the wind and with a good view of the rest of the garden, so I can keep an eye on my three dogs.  Love it.
It also provides me with tons of inspiration to get on with the coastal collages, and beach buddies.  I still have a bit to do, but can't wait to work out here.

Centrepoint charity.

I am working on a new piece for the celebration of the new Royal baby, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, the beautiful new baby of Prince William and Catherine, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
I will be limiting this range of figurines to 50, and will be making a donation of 50% of the selling price of each piece to  the Centrepoint charity which was a favourite charity of Diana,  Princess of Wales.  She took both William and Harry to Centrepoint on many occasions in their youth, to view the conditions  experienced by many disadvantaged and disorientated people who were forced to live on the streets. Centrepoint supports shelter for these people.  Its current Patron is Diana's son, HRH The Duke of Cambridge .
The new pieces will be offered for sale very soon.

Special Royal Baby pieces. coming soon

I'm working on a special Royal Baby figurine.  Even though each piece is handmade (and therefore original), I will be limiting this  range of babies to just 50 maximum..  I'm so excited by this project..it is going to be lovely...and, because I don't want to be cashing-in on such a lovely occasion, I will be making a donation out of every piece to a charity that Catherine, William and his mum, Diana have always held dear.  Details to follow.

There's that Gradwell again!

Told you he gets into eyerthing.

beach buddies joining the Etsy shop

Summer almost here, (in the UK anyway) seems a good time to introduce, 'Beach buddies' to the shop.
Please meet; Gradwell...
He's very small, but the inspiration behind beach buddies.  along with the friendly crabs, that seem to get into just about all the buddies range.  I think they are fun, capture some of the beach experience, and like all my products each one is unique and completely handmade, unless otherwise informed.

Here are a few more....catch up with them in the Etsy shop.xx

happy and sad times.

I am having an inspiring time producing some new products for sale. I am overflowing with new ideas to try out and a short spell of great weather always helps, (though there is something of a change just now).
Balanced against the happiness is the sadness of losing one great promoter of women in business who has helped me so much in the past.  Cally Robson, founder of shesingenious.com died recently,  A great woman who has helped many.
Strangely, I photographed an unusual cloud while visiting my parents on the day Cally died.

So I am including these two photo's today to illustrate the happy and sad...

Heart-warming message..received today.

Lovely shop Liz! Your Girl, Boy & Pony have done a bit of travelling... Here is final gift for our Grandaughter Maya's 1st birthday (in Ireland). It is completely hand made with love from 3 different people. Your beautiful handmade Girl, Boy & Pony are mounted on handmade linen & embroidered cloth-made here in Betencuria Fuerteventura-Canary Islands. Ceramic frame was hand designed and made by friends from Greece & Italy who own local Ceramics Art shop here in Fuerteventura. They did the mounting as well. Maya loves your dolls and wanted them off the mounting to play with them. Thank you again Liz. Love and hugs to you xo

So glad to hear that Catherine and her new daughter are well.  Happy days.

Updating and organising shop site.

I'm learning, slowly, how to speed up the process of getting products into the Etsy shop. Still much to learn and lots of products to post.  I'm having to fight the desire to just carry on making.  Here is one example of my latest landscape range of collages.

Lessons in networking and explaining....

I am beginning to understand how networking works, it's not being fake, it's being honest with complete strangers, which can be difficult.  I've never faked...but being open with strangers...umm!
Like many artists, I thrive on the construction of artwork, but find the paperwork, sales and promotion a lot more difficult.  My sister, (also a creative, but with a better organised mind than mine) tells me;  'What's the point of making more work, if you're not promoting and selling what is already made...'
Okay, I give up...you're right...but it's difficult.  It's often hard to describe those intimate emotions that inspire a piece of work, or drive its construction.  I find that describing  the work is more difficult than creating it because the process is instinctive and difficult to understand, let alone put into words...but I love what I do, so will persevere, and if you like it, then you get it and that's a success in my book. xxx
