I've been receiving some very valuable advice about the process of setting up and maintaining my Etsy shop site. I enthusiastically spend hours and hours creating work, but am less adept and keen on doing the crucial job of posting photographs and doing critical maintenance on my shop and blog sites... and realise how important that is too. So, I am busy getting to grips with various new skills, (it's a slow process). Hope you will bare with me..

One wet Saturday
I've been watching some interesting TV about the China silk trail..(as I use much natural silk product that comes from the region). It is amazing the difficulties historically encountered. Apparently, the reason a camel can survive such huge journeys across such harsh and dry conditions is because when they encounter an oasis, they can consume over 60 litres of water in ten minutes...I now have a huge appreciation of the silk products we take so much for granted. They have been hard fought over many hundreds of years. It's been a nice way to spend one wet Saturday.

Well, maybe we are saying goodbye to the lovely weather for a while, (not long I hope). I have been busy with my art work, even busier in the garden...but in a painterly way rather than getting my hands dirty..I'm not a great gardener but love being outside. Must post some photo's when I have it finished.
I'm trying to get my collages up on Etsy, (only 60'ish still to post) It's a slow process because I'm new to it. Then I will post some paintings, prints, Liz's kids ( hand sculpted figurines)......there are never enough hours in the day...but at least I am never bored. I also want to get on with my writing, but currently just can't find any more time unless I find a way of surviving without sleep.
my Etsy shop can be found at, lizwilliamsarts You may need to open etsy.com first...not checked that yet.....brain freeze.

giving Etsy shop a try..
Lovely weather again today, so I set myself up with a photographic studio outside in the sun and tried to get some half-decent shots of my collages to post to Etsy... hoping it might be a good sales site.
It seems like a great site, easy to use, lots of help and it will be great if it works. Can't believe I have only managed to upload 7 items today with maybe 50 more to do.
I would so much prefer spending time making more works, than doing paperwork...though I accept both are as important as each other...so. here goes...back to it...

Learning new stuff
It is so frustrating learning new stuff. I'm setting up shop sites and find it takes me ages to get to grips with how it all works..I put it down to my dyslexia, but maybe that's just me looking for an excuse. I have so many ideas on the go, and can't wait to get some feedback about what folk like and don't. I am desperate to get down to the coast and work on some collages...so many ideas I'm dying to get on with. I'm enjoying the process of making the collages so much and love them all so much. Photographs don't seem to show them off. It's great to have purchasers saying how much better the original is to the photo...but I always wonder if I'm losing sales because of that.Guess I'll never be satisfied.

catch-up.
I'm having so much fun creating my collages. With three lovely, though time-consuming, dogs and a real love of the outdoors, especially in this improved weather, I couldn't be happier. I've just bought some lovely fabrics to use in my landscapes, expensive, but beautiful colour and texture. Most of the fabrics I use are silk, and recycled, and I choose beads carefully, concentrating on glass, wood, semi-precious stone and crystal.
At last I've got an Etsy shop on the go. I've over 50 collages to upload, (it's taking a while). I will offer some special offers, but I hope my prices are competitive anyway. I think all art should be available to everyone, so I will offer a series of sizes that cater to all pockets.
Every piece will be a one-off, and I'm open to commissions.
I hope you'll follow and drop in now and again to check out what I'm doing.
And I'm always open to critique good and bad...if you want to air an opinion.
bfn,
Liz
